About
Local Coaching Journal is about the craft around a coaching conversation: how people listen, ask, agree on boundaries and decide what a session is for. It is for curious readers and coaches who want to examine the work without pretending every conversation follows the same route.
What we cover
We explore questions, listening, session structure, boundaries and reflection. Some pieces unpack a small conversational choice; others compare ways to frame a session or explain how an idea developed. The aim is to make the details easier to notice, not to turn people into a formula.
Who it is for
Readers may be new to coaching, familiar with it, or simply interested in how purposeful conversations work. We write for general understanding rather than to replace training, supervision, specialist support or a reader's own judgement.
How we look at the work
We favour clear examples, plain language and honest limits. A technique that suits one conversation may not suit another. We distinguish broad observations from firm claims, and we treat consent, confidentiality and role clarity as matters to discuss explicitly rather than assume.
A conversation is not a script.
Coaching has useful structures, but people are not worksheets. We look at the choices behind a conversation and leave room for context, uncertainty and a change of plan.
